A couple of weekends ago about 26 filmmakers gathered with their crews to write, shoot, edit and finish a short film within 48 hours for the Hampton Roads 48 Hour Film Project.

While each team drew a different film genre, the project required all teams to use the same prop (playing cards), character (Tammy or Tam, a poet) and line (“There’s not enough time”).

Of the short films screened over a two day period last week at The Naro in Norfolk, “In Captivity,” a film produced by Jpixx Films, directed, written and edited by Jon Abrahams and starring Isaac Gay, Cory Evans and Chloe Steinberg, won the overall competition. It also received awards for best prop use and editing.

In addition, the audience picked “In Captivity” as the best film for the second day of screenings. They picked “King of the Roosts,” produced by Glorious Wood Cinema, as the best film for the first day of screenings.
